Executive Director - Cheryl Bozarth:
Cheryl Bozarth has immense enthusiasm and passion for DAWN’s mission and is a great advocate for our clients and our community as DAWN continues to foster communities where abuse is no longer tolerated.
Before starting at DAWN in July of 2010, Cheryl was the Executive Director of Dove House in Jefferson County since 2005, and prior to that was the Outpatient Mental Health Program Director for Sutton Place Behavioral Health which provides child and family services. Cheryl also serves as the 2010-11 Board President of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV). This background and experience fits DAWN's mission and will help Cheryl be successful in achieving our goals.
Nan Stoops, Executive Director of WSCADV says Cheryl, “is a wonderful leader. She brings compassion, professionalism, vision, thoughtfulness, and a quirky sense of humor to her work. WSCADV offers congratulations and best wishes to DAWN and to Cheryl as they embark on this next adventure together!”
Cheryl's background and experience is a great asset to DAWN. She developed a strategic plan and secured the funding for a $2.1m capital campaign which culminated in the opening of the Dove House Transitional Housing and Services Center. A project that was not only finished early but also came in under budget. Her leadership is shown to be an open and approachable one that combines commitment and accountability with an enthusiastic and warm style. She is seen as a passionate, sincere and committed individual, who is a champion for the work of domestic violence and is a compelling spokesperson on behalf of the cause.
Cheryl believes the issues facing DV in today's environment include moving toward prevention, focusing on implementing best practices based on research, increasing community engagement, reducing the dependency on government funding and being more focused on developing new funding sources. These beliefs fit very well with DAWN's strategic plan and can ensure our continued success as we move forward.
DAWN's Board of Directors guide and participate in the work we do. They include survivors of domestic violence, men and women, and reflect and uphold DAWN's values. They are:
