Who We Serve
In 2007, DAWN served over 13,000 clients (a 30% increase over
2006) including:
- Answered 11,255 calls to our 24-hour crisis line (thank you in large
part to our amazing volunteers!)
- Provided shelter to 193 women and 260 children at DAWN's House
- Provided short-term emergency housing to 131 individuals in DAWN's
Safe Nights Hotel Program
- Transitioned 21 families from homelessness to permanent housing
through DAWN's Extended Stay Program
- Served 1,293 women in our Community Advocacy Programs including:
- Provided one-on-one advocacy to 489 clients
- Provided legal advocacy to 618 clients
- Provided 199 support groups to 186 women
- Provided 384 hours of education and support to children who have
witnessed domestic violence through DAWN's Kids' Club Program.
- Reduced our turn-away rate by 21% over 2007, unfortunately DAWN is
still forced to turn away 23 requests for shelter for every one vacancy.
