DAWN’s Service to the Community:
In 2010, DAWN served a total of 16,235 clients including:
- 11,567 bed nights to:
- 203 women and their families at DAWN’s House, our emergency
confidential shelter;
- 203 women, men and their families in our Safe Nights Housing
Program (hotels and motels vouchers); and
- 8 families in our Extended Stay Transitional Housing Program.
- 13,859 crisis calls from women, men and teens (thanks in part to our
wonderful volunteers!).
- 1,946 individuals in our Community Advocacy Program, which included:
- 137 support groups to women, with an average attendance of 6
women per group;
- legal advocacy for 836 women, men and teens;
- Transition To Permanency housing services to 38 women;
- $34,520 in direct rent and utility assistance to 29 households
(84 clients)
- 80 women and men over the age of 50; and
- 249 women screened for mental health services – 194 of those
were referred on to DAWN’s mental health counseling service.

- 14% are immigrants or refugees; and 14% have limited English
speaking skills.
